Here we will discuss the Generation 2 VS Generation 3 Pmag
The question we are asked more than any other, is what is the difference between the Generation 2 and Generation 3, sometimes refered to as the M3 Pmag. The Gen 2 pmag has been out for several years, with millions sold and currently in use. As these pmags come in many colors, including FDE, it is the magazine of choice for the military over in the Middle East. Every indication is that the Gen 2 pmag has performed flawlessly, as I have never heard of a single failure or dissapointed customer.
A couple years ago, Magpul introduced the M3 pmag with several new features.
1. The M3 Pmag comes with an included dust cover. This dust covers keeps debris out of the magazine, as well as protects the feed lips from impact damage.
2. The M3 Pmag has a slimmer floor plate, allowing it to be inserted into smaller, tighter, magazine pouches.
3. The M3 Pmag comes with a Dot Matrix design towards the bottom of the magazine. This allows owners to color in the dots in order to label their magazines.
4. The M3 Pmag is designed with a new plastic which improves the overall strength.
5. The M3 Pmag includes a new, low friction, four-way anti-tilt follower in a gray color.
6. The M3 Pmag fits a few additional rifle configurations inclusing the Scar MK 16/16S, HK 416, HK MR556A1, M27 IAR, and the British SA-80.
As I mentioned above, millions of Generation 2 pmags are in the hands of happy sportsmen, making it the high capacity magazine of choice, especially if you want it in one of the available colors. The M3 Pmag is only available in Black, but is also very popular, all be it a few dollars more in cost. Being that these magazines are an excellent value, you can not go wrong with this magazine that is still made in the United States of America.
